Executive Committee Purpose
The Executive Committee provides strategic direction and operational oversight for the Community Action Network
Chair:
- Chair of the Resource Council
- Serves 1 yr. term (January-December)
Membership:
- Chair, Immediate past Chair and In-coming Chairs of the CAN Resource Council, Administrative Team and Community Council
- Chairs of the CAN standing committees: marketing, public policy, and assessment and planning
Term for Members:
- 3 years for CAN Council leadership (as Incoming Chair, Chair, and past-Chair)
- Duration as Chair of CAN standing committee
Meeting Frequency:
Fourth Friday of each month from 11:30-1:00pm currently at location to be determined
Annual CAN Retreat – The CAN retreat is held on a Friday in October. CAN
Executive Committee Members are expected to attend.
Function:
CAN Executive Committee
- Connects the leadership of CAN structural bodies for dialogues and alignment
- Provides administrative and operational oversight of CAN
- Develops policies and procedures to be recommended to the Resource Council
- Provides oversight of the CAN’s finances and ensures that the resources are available to meet CAN goals
- Recommends CAN budget to the Resource Council*
- Oversees, evaluates, and provides guidance to CAN staff. Makes recommendations about salary adjustments for CAN Associate and Executive Directors **
- Oversees the process of hiring CAN’s Executive Director
- Ensures consistency of process and action across the CAN system
Member Responsibilities:
- Keep CAN groups informed of Executive Committee activities and information
- Attend monthly meetings and the CAN retreat
- Articulate and connect the activities of the member’s Council/Committee with the work of the other CAN groups
* The Current Chairs of the Resource Council, Administrative Team and Community Council will serve as a Finance Committee and will regularly review the CAN budget and make recommendations to the Executive Committee
** The Immediate Past Chairs of the Resource Council, Administrative Team and Community Council will be serve as the Human Resource Committee responsible for reviewing performance and making recommendations to the Executive Committee regarding CAN staff and any salary adjustments
