Child Care Task Force Report: Ambassadors for Children

Conclusion

To be prepared to meet the demands of the future, the child care infrastructure in our community requires substantial strengthening, resources and support. The Child Care Task Force asks that the community fully support the adoption, implementation and work of the Fund for Child Care Excellence as it moves forward with the initiatives outlined in this report, making real and positive differences for families and their children.

In addition to the Child Care Task Force and Fund for Child Care Excellence which stress the aspects of excellent child care, there are several other community endeavors addressing the elements of early child development and education that go beyond child care. These include the Thrive by Five, Success by Six, I Am Your Child and the Healthy Family programs as well as others. Also, a further comprehensive assessment of the Early Education and Care Needs of Children will be published in January 2000 by the Community Action Network. It is essential that the community make every effort to coordinate the work of all these programs and processes to obtain the maximum benefit for our children.
