Basic Needs Focus Group Questions:

For this assessment process Basic Needs are defined as: Food, Clothing and Emergency Shelter Support (i.e. emergency utility, rental and mortgage assistance to retain housing) to meet basic human needs fundamental to survival.

Customer information:

  • Are you seeing any changes in your customers? (Demographic, geographic location, needs, barriers)
  • What are the top three needs of your customers (other than basic needs)?

Service Information:

How would you improve the services you offer?

How do you work with other service providers? (make/accept referrals to/from other agencies)

Perception of Social Service System:

What are the flaws in the current basic needs (or overall social service) system that prevent some populations from achieving self-sufficiency?

What population groups do you believe could be better served? (who is underserved?)

What actions should be taken to improve basic needs services in our community? (services that should be added/expanded, barriers that could be removed)

What would you do to improve your services if additional funding were available to your agency?

What other providers do you know of who arent here that could/should be included in this discussion?
