Promising, Exciting Comments
- A lot more commonalities than differences
- Austin is the most progressive city, increases chances of success
- So many providers have similar problems - strength in numbers
- People are willing to listen to consumers and ask for our ideas
- Trying to use resources more wisely
- Integration of physical and mental health
- Interest in Root causes and understanding
- Have So many people who step up to the plate to work as a team
- Turn the energy of anger into positive action
Uncertain, Scary
- How to carry through on intentions
- Basic human nature to not respond until crisis
- Seems abstract now
- Size of the task, especially in public policy
- Community has reputation for unconnected special interests
- Health generally good so it's hard to get attention. Also when economy is good it's hard to get attention
- Fighting groups with huge monetary resources
- What happens if we lose our momentum - will we "go away"
- Need to move fast - with common sense
