ARCIL, Inc. (Austin Resource Center for Independent Living) of Austin, Texas

People with all types of disabilities and their families access ARCIL services to achieve a higher level of independence within the community. ARCIL provides peer counseling, advocacy, information and referral, Independent Living Skills instruction, and Nursing Home relocation services. Volunteer opportunities include:

Auxiliary Independent Living services: Assist consumers to recognize and meet personal needs and goals through identifying and accessing community resources and services.

Independent Living Class instruction and assistance: Assist staff in coordinating and instructing classes on topics such as money management, peer support, healthy cooking, music appreciation and more.

Social Recreation Activities: Participate in community events and outings with consumers and staff such as camping at Bastrop State Park , visiting the Zilker Botanical Gardens, music venues, etc.

Nursing Home Relocation advocacy: Assist staff in identifying and relocating individuals out of nursing homes and other facilities into the community.
