EXECUTIVE

The Executive Committee is responsible for giving direction and leadership to the Council, setting meeting agendas, and making decisions between regularly stated meetings.

MEMBERSHIP & GOVERNANCE

Responsibilities include distributing and collecting membership forms, maintaining an active membership list, determining which members are in “good standing,” ensuring fair representation among voting members, overseeing updates to the bylaws, and recruiting a diverse membership representing a broad spectrum of the community. The Membership Committee shall prepare a slate of officers for election at the August meeting and recommend new members for the Council at least twice a year.

ADVOCACY & PUBLIC AWARENESS

The Advocacy and Public Awareness committee is responsible for the public face of the BNC especially in regard to issue fact sheets, the BNC website, and consistency and accuracy of documents.  The Committee will be responsible for the focus of Poverty Awareness Month and also provide leadership for any BNC committee’s public relations.  The committee will lead the BNC in identifying legislative priorities and advocacy opportunities as they arise.

FOOD SECURITY

The BNC Food Committee consists of member organizations with a food/nutrition focus that collaborate to minimize service delivery gaps and maximize efficient use of resources to strengthen overall community food security.

HOUSING STABILITY

To address and respond to the basic needs financial assistance areas that are needed to maintain/obtain housing. To bring together providers in a planning process  that are interested in establishing housing stability through sharing information, and discussing gaps, challenges and other related issues, and to explore opportunities to collaborate to improve housing stability success in our community. The funded Best Single Source partners report to this committee.
