BNC receives accolades

The Spirit of Service Award has been created to recognize the work of a non-profit agency, service provider, organization or collaboration working in partnership with United Way Capital Area. Criteria taken into consideration include 1) exemplifies flexibility, innovation and collaboration in efforts to continually
improve services to clients, and 2) uses measurable outcomes to guide program improvements.

In addition to demonstrating these attributes, the Basic Needs Coalition was selected for modeling best practices in developing the Best Single Source Program, for exemplary efforts in raising community awareness of community conditions through Poverty Awareness Month, and for conducting the food survey in order to use measurable outcomes to identify areas of duplication and areas of opportunity in serving targeted populations.

The review committee felt that the Basic Needs Coalition set a standard of excellence in collaboration to improve community conditions, and was most deserving of this first award!
