Butler Awards: CAN Soon to Accept Nominations for 2007

In honor of his 10 years of service to the Central Texas community through his leadership, collaborative spirit and relationship-building skills, Fred Butler, CAN’s former Executive Director, was awarded the first Butler Award in December 2006.

The CAN will accept 2007 nominations from July 23rd through September 14, 2007. In order to be eligible for awards, nominees must live in Central Texas, attend the end of the year celebration on December 14, 2007, and be nominated by an individual or a community organization affiliated with CAN.   • In 2006 visitors to the CAN website came from 40,838 distinct Internet addresses. That is an average of about 3,400 users per month.
  • So far in 2007, visitors have come from 34,716 distinct Internet addresses. This is an average of about 5,786 users per month.

A total of three Butler Awards will be presented in the following categories:

  • An individual or organization that Demonstrates Leadership in building community spirit with integrity, trust, vision and passion.
  • An organization or collaboration that exhibits the True Spirit of Collaboration.
  • An individual that serves as a Bridge Builder to bring about positive community change.

The Community Action Network (CAN) is a private and public partnership of major community organizations committed to enhancing the health and well being of Central Texas. The CAN provides a forum and tools for creative and collaborative problem solving, community participation and consensus building.
