About the Austin/Travis County Victims' Services Task Force
The Austin/Travis County Victim Services Task Force (VSTF) is a collaboration of victim service providers serving the Austin/Travis County (Texas) community. The purpose of the VSTF is to educate the community and policy makers about the needs of victims, advocate for victim rights and improve the delivery of victim services to individuals needing such services. The VSTF is the official planning body for the Travis County Community Justice Council and the Community Action Network. This group is open to anyone that is interested in participating in the work of the VSTF.
Accomplishments and initiatives of the Task Force over that last few years include the a) creation of a victim assistance brochure, b) planning and coordination of a community forum on Crime Victim’s Compensation with the Texas Office of the Attorney General, c) development and publication of a comprehensive community wide assessment in 2003, d) annual completion of the Travis County Community Plan, e) planning and coordination of public awareness and media events, including National Crime Victim’s Rights Week activities.
Mission:
To ensure that Austin/Travis County is a community where all victims feel safe to report crime and receive the emotional, physical, and financial support they need to fully recover.
