How You Can Help
Urgent Needs
During a disaster, it is important to get the RIGHT goods and services to the people who need it most. When Hurricane Andrew hit Florida, relief agencies received truckloads of coats and cold-weather gear that were clearly not needed in Florida. And dealing with the huge influx of the “wrong” supplies drained valuable volunteer time and energy that was desperately needed elsewhere.
The most important question an individual or organization can ask is, “What do you need?” When a partner organization recognizes an urgent need during a disaster, it will be posted here. Please check back with us for a list of needs and to learn more about how you can help, or consider making a cash donation to your favorite partner charity!

Cash is the number one need in any disaster. Cash can be converted to bottled water, roofing supplies, emergency shelters, or transportation at a moment’s notice.
The VOAD partner organizations listed below have disaster plans on file with CTXVOAD, and will be good community stewards of your generosity.
